Embracing Your Mistakes

I'm actually writing this for the National Mistake Day which is on October 1st, but mind me, I totally forgot about it yesterday. Well, I make mistakes and that's what you're going to deal with in this post. My life is not mistake-free and I think everyone realizes that mistake is part of our lives, just like the saying goes, 'to err is human' (did I even get the saying right? Well, my mistake correct me if I'm wrong).

We all do lots of mistake and it happens all the time. Some people deny it, some people choose to overlook it and some just couldn't accept it that they often end up regretting and getting frustrated with themselves. When I was younger, I used to think someone who makes mistake is a failure, it's just bad and embarrassing. I was so scared of doing mistake to the point that if I don't have confidence in doing something I'll just let it pass by instead of trying it at all. I don't want to make mistake especially in front of others because I thought it'll look bad on me. But as I grew up and I met various kind of people who didn't share the same thoughts with me and have different experiences it made me realize, mistake is not bad at all. Thanks to a few friends of mine who wasn't scared of doing mistake like me, and who dragged me along with them to make the mistake together.

If you're afraid of doing mistake, you're going to miss so many interesting moment in your life, just like me when I was little. For instance, English is not my first language, but here I am writing for everyone to see in this foreign language. And I know there are a lot of grammatical error in each of my post, but at least I'm writing it and sharing my thoughts with others and this way, I'll improve my English too. Some people may laugh at the mistake I make, others might feel frustrated and wanted to yell at me something like 'can you mind your tense please?!!', but I don't care anymore about what others are thinking, I'm enjoying writing this blog.

What I'm trying to say is, if you just let go of that feeling of afraid of making mistake, you'll definitely enjoy more in your life. Anyway the only people who didn't make mistake is those who are sleeping and those who never try anything new in their lives. Don't be afraid of making mistake, so you'll achieve more in your life. And to people who laugh while I'm embarrassing myself in front of them while trying something new, at least I have tried it, and you? Have you ever did it?

Exciting Day for L.A.D.I.E.S

"Beside a successful man is a successful woman"

Just like the sentence above which was voiced out by one of the forum member, I couldn't agree no more. Women do play an important role in the process of establishing a successful individual. To start with, everyone of us were born by our mother which is of course, a woman. Therefore,....wait up, why I feel like I'm writing an essay? Must have been because of the forum I attended yesterday. Now have to shake off those formalities of my head. Changing mode.... Done!

Whoop! I had so much fun yesterday going to the NIEW Ladies Carnival 2011 which was held at my university. Although I had classes on the morning of the day, but I still enjoy the carnival right after I finished my last class for that day. Well, before this girl right here started to rant about her exciting day at the carnival I think it'll be appropriate if I talk a little about the organizer. So what's NIEW? I thought they misspelled it for the word 'new'. But nah, that won't happen to such a big event right? Well, NIEW stands for NAM Institute for the Empowerment of Women which was established on 2006 with the main objective, of course to increase and help the empowerment of women generally.

So there's a lot of activities which is mostly related and given consideration for women with various sponsors booth on the location. There were a few forums starting from early in the morning until late in the evening all were related to women issues and future. Besides that, there were also make up workshop (I actually joined it although I didn't know half the things the speaker was teaching, I don't usually wear any make up tbh) and motivation program and a lot more.

I was forced (okay that's not really the word I want to use, but you know the kind of situation you'll get when the organizer came to you and simply drag you to play their game which you know you just wouldn't do it in public place. But you'll still do it in the name of being supportive and try to have fun in it) to play that kind of gladiator game. Whatever it is, it's embarrassing and I was the first one to fall. So much for me, but I still had fun in it. I've never play it before but now I have ^^. So it's cool.

Other than gladiator, they also have soapy football (trust me, it's really soapy and everyone keep falling, rather than playing football, they looked like they were playing some water game), climbing, and treasure hunt and hot air balloon ride. On the night they had local artists performance from various genre. I enjoyed the beat-boxing the most I guess.

It was a really exciting day and I got a lot of goodies such as free magazines, recycle bags and T-shirts. I really think one day is not enough for this kind of event since there were a lot of activities that you need to catch up with. But anyway, it's still fun and I hope my university will have lots more events to come so we can always find a place to chill after all those torture moment in class and lecture hall.

So in the end, do this carnival benefits me? Yes, it is. I get to play things I don't play before, I registered as a volunteer for society programs, I started to know the basic of make up techniques and stuff and I definitely enjoy all those goodies they were giving. I hope everyone else have a nice day too.^0^

Za'ba Awards Night (MAZ) 2010/2011

Hey there.I know I haven't updated my blog for quite some time. Why?Busy?Yeah,I'm busy, being a student you'll always been busy. But that's not the reason why I didn't post anything here for the last few weeks.Apparently there's another reason for that, but I'm not gonna talk about it.It isn't that important.Whatever that reason is,here I am again typing away a new entry.

Anyway,on April 8,2011 my residential college had our annual college dinner so called the Za'ba Awards Night at the Grand Dorsett Hotel nearby. It's the night where everyone dressed so nicely be it a perfect dinner dresses or a rental dress from any boutiques complete with the perfect hairdo and glamorous make up.Oh well,I'm sure you guys know what kind of dinner I'm talking a
bout. And I'm not the exception either.I did dressed up for the night and put on a little make up like for the forth time in my life, maybe? No surprise there,I hardly ever wear any single cosmetic given on any day without reasons. The theme is masquerade so inevitably I had to get myself a mask to go with the theme. We had a Chinese sets for the menu and had a few performances from local celebrity, independence band and our own talented-wanna-be.

So much so that,I had quite a night, take a few photos with friends and all and around 30 minutes past 12 we were on our way back to college. That,if I remember the time right.
I guess that's it.Nothing much to say about it.:face34:

BIOTECHNOLOGY ANNUAL DINNER 2010/2011

Biotechnology Annual Dinner is an event held every year by the second year students of biotechnology course in my university.blogger-emoticon.blogspot.comEmmm,something's not right..Why am I being so factual?blogger-emoticon.blogspot.comHehe..forgive me for that.^_^ Actually what I wanted to say is that yesterday we had our dinner, which is my first biotechnology dinner with my course mates at Restoran Nelayan(Fishermen's Restaurant) at Titiwangsa. It's such a beautiful restaurant surrounded by a lake and have a lots of lights. The restaurant is popular for its steamboat and seafood.Well, you can definitely deduct that even by its name.

I had such a good time there with my all of my course mates, seniors and lecturers. From this event,I got to know a lot of people that I've never even seen them before. It's true that we are taking the same course, but most of our classes still differ and even when we are in the same class, there are too many people there that you couldn't possibly know everyone in the lecture hall.Because of this event too I've become closer to those who I've only known by faces and names before this. This dinner bring such a good
memory to all of us.
There was lucky draw given out,but I didn't win anything.CryingBut it's still okay, since the dinner is so much fun.And my friend won a hybrid headset. She's so lucky!Hehe...Anyway,the dress code for the dinner was traditional and so I decided to wear cheongsam,a Chinese traditional clothes for woman, while my friend,a mix of Chinese and Indian chose to wear kebaya,a traditional clothes for Malay woman. She looked so beautiful in the dress.

Next year will be my friends and my turn to organize the dinner as we'll become a second year student when the new semester started.I hope all of us can give our best to organize the dinner for both seniors and juniors. That's it for now.Take a look at the photos we took during our dinner. It's not much though.Till then,bye!blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com

A Chaotic Morning

:antok:Yawn...first thing I heard in the morning today was a few guys knocking vigorously at a room on my floor. And when I heard it at first I thought it was nothing but then I immediately realized it's a guy voice asking the girls in the room to open the door and I was like what the-:Opps:( How could guys be at a girls-only hostel block and knocking so vigorously demanding girls to open the door:s:I thought it could be a spot check and my eyes opened wide thinking that a group of guys will enter my room and started going through my messy locker.:damn:(
But then it turned out as one of the slots included in a program held in my college this week.Phew...blogger-emoticon.blogspot.com so they are not gonna check through my locker or anything, they just wanted to see the room..that's all...But in the end they didn't go to my room..which is quite a relief..considering my room is too messy right now.So today I woke up earlier than I should because of the noise they made while they were checking a few rooms on my floor. But that's about it.:)

International Malay Speech Contest Prime Minister Cup @PABM 2011

On March 11,2011 the final stage for International Malay Speech Contest Prime Minister Cup has been held at Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC).International Malay Speech Contest Prime Minister Cup or better known as PABM for short is one of annual event hold by Malaysia starting from 2007.The purpose for this event is to introduce Malay language to the non-Malay speaker and also to internationalized Malay language. From year to year, the numbers of contestant from different countries has increased, starting to show off the result of this annual event.
For this year, there are two categories involved, that is international category and the archipelago category. For the international category,a participant from Turkey,Halil Ibrahim emerged as the champion while proud Malaysian,Amirrudin Abd. Rahman was named as the champion for archipelago category. Both of them managed to bring home a cash of RM 15 200.The first and second runner-ups for international category are Kamyshnikova Daria from Russia and Genevieve Woods from Australia respectively. While for the archipelago category, the first runner-up belong to Awang Abdul Rashid Awang Damit from Brunei and a participant from Singapore,Muhammad Izwan Othman won the third place.
I was there to watch the whole event as my university arranged for about 80 students to go there including 40 international students from our university who is still learning Malay language. It's a good experience not only for the international students, but also to us,the local students as we can learn how to give a good speech.I definitely have to give my respect to all of the contestants since all of them can speak Malay very well. It's such a special feeling to hear someone else, especially someone from outside the country,a non-Malay speaker to speak Malay with such fluency and what's more being so confident to talk in front of tenth of thousands audience in a language they had only learn. Most of the contestants had only learn Malay ranged from 1 year to three years. But they spoke so well on that night that even us,the native-speakers feel amazed.I've been learning English since I'm seven years old,but I still wouldn't dare to give a speech to thousands of people.I'll just die because of nervous I guess.Haha...that's so me,a coward.
Congratulations to the winners and also the participants. They had made many Malaysian to be proud of their own language. And I hope this annual event will continued to be hold since it's one of the most efficient way to internationalized Malay language to the world."Malaysia boleh"!!Well,to those who don't understand what I've just said,it's a Malay phrase meaning "Malaysian Can" which is to motivate and to support Malaysian through thick and thin.So that's it.Just another post from a fellow Malaysian.Although right now my readers are mostly from Philippines and United States.Haha...I hope more Malaysian will read my blog.:))Let's take a peek...

College Sports Day

Arghh..my whole body is aching from these two days event...>.< Haha,I act as if I joined every single games in the sports day.Well, yes,it's my college sports day on the past 5th and 6th March. There were futsal and volleyball matches and a lot of interactive games such as explorace, giant draft snake and a lots more I'm not going into details here. They gave fun names to each games so it'll be kinda hard for me to translate into English and it may not sounds so interesting if I changed it into English.:)
Although I only joined it for one day,it's a fun experience for me.During the day,my friends and I stood beside the court on the sunny day to give our full supports to our players for futsal and volleyball. Our team had to be the most supportive team as we kept screaming and calling our players name to give them our supports. There were four teams altogether.I joined the explorace(exploration game,I'm sure you have heard it somewhere) during the night and had fun doing many games in the explorace. However we only managed to get the third place in the explorace...:"(
After all the matches were played, the marks were collected to determine which team get the highest marks and become the champion of our sports day.Although my team didn't become the champion,we are all still grateful to be the first runner up and the fact that we're only 6 marks away from the champion. It's such a small gap between us and the champion team.Oh well,a small difference is just as bad as a large difference anyway. We are still not the champion.
But I'm definitely happy to have joined the event.Although some may think it's a waste of time, for me it's a good way to spend some time with your friends.seniors and acquaintances. As a students we are all so busy with our studies that we sometime don't even know who's living in the next room to us or who is our neighbors around us.This is good chance for us to know them better while playing some games with them or just by standing outside the court chanting for our favorite team.Besides,by joining such activities, you can definitely take out a little portion of your stresses from studying hard the whole week.I think as a student,we shouldn't only focus on studying but also try to socialize with different people and join certain activities to gain some outside experiences. However,it's good not to overdo it or you might end up having so many things to do that you have to cut time for studying.I've seen some of my friends who do so many outside activities that isn't related to their studies. Some of them even skip classes for the sake of other things. You need to have a balance. So,work hard to get that A grade on your exam papers but take some time to put a genuine smile on your face too as a sign you're having fun in your life.Wishing everybody to have a good week ahead.Rocking Banana

International Food and Cultures Fair

Korean food Topokki
Emm....yummy,yummy,for yesterday and today,my university is having an International Food and Cultures Fair.Too bad I couldn't go for it yesterday since my schedule was full. But I made a time to go the fair today after my 12 o'clock class, during my lunch time.Since my university has a lot of foreign students as well, there are many countries has joined the fair. There are Yemen,Nigeria,Iran,Myanmar,China,South Korea,Indonesia,Chad,Sudan and other countries as well.Forgive me for not remembering all of them,I've a bad memory capacity..:P
I got all excited when I see various foods from different countries.I feel like I want to taste all of them.(^_^) I like food and I love to eat so much. It's probably the second thing I like to do the most beside sleeping..:D Alright, stop talking about me,it's the food that I want to talk about actually. Some of the food looks strange to me,my countries don't have most of the food in the fair(I think that's why the fair is held in the first place, right?). I learned a lot of other countries foods' name.I tasted a few foods too and it's all delicious. I met a lot of foreigner and we exchanged a little details about ourselves.
China La Mian^_^
One of the most interesting things I get to see in the fair(beside eating those delicious foreign foods) is a guy from China making a la mian.La mian is a hand-pulled noodles. The Chinese guy folded, tossed and stressed a lump of dough continuously until it forms a long and thin strands of noodles.I watched the young Chinese guy(possibly in his early 20's judging from his appearance) did it a few times with amazement. He tossed and folded the noodles effortlessly as if it's a piece of cake and within a couple of minutes there it is,a beautifully made la mian.I asked him how long does it take for him to learn to do the la mian.He didn't know any English,so someone had to translate my question to his language. Then he answered it took him about one year and a half to learn it.I think he must have been doing it at least a hundred times everyday for him to master the skill.
So what food do I get to taste during the fair?Sadly,I didn't have enough money to buy all the foods in the faair:"( So I chose a few foods that I wanted to taste. One of them,of course is the la mian noodles. After requesting the guy to make the la mian in front of me for two times, how could I don't buy it?I just have to taste the fresh hand-made noodles myself.Even at the first look, the noodles looked different from the one I used to buy from the local stall. And when I tasted it,it's even better. The taste is just right,I can't explain it.It has enough flavor and the textures were so smooth but not too soft and it's springy. And I love the sight of the imperfections in the noodles, like it's not well formed at a small end parts of it.You know,it's a hand-made noodles,so it's not the perfect cylinder-like noodles produce by the machine like you always see.
Korean pancake Pa Jeon^_^
Besides the noodles,I also have a taste of Korean food.Is it because I watched too many Korean dramas,so now I'm interested in their foods too?But anyway, there are two foods that I tasted.Pa jeon and tteobokki.Pa jeon is like a Korean vegetables pancake. It is full with green onions and is eaten with a kind of sauce,to me it appear like a ketchup?I'm not so sure. When I asked the Korean, they tried to explain it to me,but most of the ingredients name are in Korean,so it's hard for me to know what it is.But it's definitely tasty and I want to eat it again if I got the chance.Probably I will search for the recipe in the internet and try to do it myself(^_^)That's even better.
Topokki is a stir-fried rice cake and can be found at many streets stall in Korea. They told me it's hot and spicy(and it is spicy for me,but my friend said she didn't feel it's spicy,emm...depends on the person eating it) but anyway it's so tasty I want to eat it again someday!Hehe..too bad I can't taste all of the foods in the fair. There are also other foods from other countries that gained it's own fans, but since I didn't get to taste it,I don't know much of other foods,so I can't write it here.Besides China and South Korea;Yemen,Iran,Chad and Indonesia too have their share of the spotlight during the fair.
